The State of Orissa is carrying out fundamental restructuring of the electrical sector. The Grid Corporation of Orissa Ltd. (GRIDCO) has been formed as an important agent in the restructuring process. The Project Management Unit has been assisting GRIDCO to undertake a major programme of investment. The World Bank assisted transmission projects, costing around US$ 125 million under IBRD loan no. 4014 IN, are undertaken by PMU. It is in the process of strengthening the transmission networks in the region to facilitate high quality supplies of electricity at the best possible price to the consumer.
